We often have trouble letting go of painful events in our past and this affects the way we respond to our current life situations. We blame situations, ourselves or others and remain trapped in a state of anger and hurt. Through training in mindfulness and meditation we can illuminate the real source of pain and difficulty within our minds and finally release it completely, leaving us with a tremendous feeling of relief and joy.
Learn practical methods to let go of the past through a retreat at Kailash with Gen Kelsang Chö. Everyone is welcome!

The retreat starts on the first day with supper at 6pm followed by the introduction at 8pm and finishes on the last day with lunch. There will be several meditation and teaching sessions every day as well as a session with chanted prayers. At break times each participant helps with small jobs and there is also plenty of time to go for walks in the beautiful surroundings of Kailash IRC.

During the retreat, in the mornings, we observe silence until lunchtime. Being in silence allows the mind to settle and find peace. In this way you will be able to concentrate better during meditation and to leave all the stress and busyness that we are normally immersed in behind. In the afternoon and evening retreaters are encouraged to discuss their experience of the meditation and teachings, so they can help each-other to overcome obstacles and gain deeper experience. During some retreats, depending on the wishes of the retreaters the retreat can be completely silent from a certain point in the retreat.

Merit jobs:
Kailash IRC is a non-profit charity and the Retreat Centre, B&B and courses are all run by a few volunteers. Therefore it is common practice during an event at Kailash IRC that every participant helps with some jobs (e.g. chopping vegetables, washing dishes, tidying up etc.) and the final cleaning at the end of the course.
